So as some of you may know, I am studying abroad this semester at Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain. I am taking a variety of classes, ranging from my core music class (theory, ear training) to music business courses (my major). One of my favorites is an International Music Industry Seminar, where we talk about global differences in the music industries. I may want to work abroad in the future, so this class is especially suited for that interest.
Some fun facts: Sweden is where Spotify was created (The Swedish music market is particularly impactful and significant today), and there are 3 ways in which humans bond and feel connected to music – through the “motor path” (rhythm, groove), the “emotion path” (melody, harmony), and the “cognitive path” (lyrics), all in order of significance.
We just finished its midterms, which weren’t as bad as I anticipated them to be, and now I am focusing on finishing the second half of the semester with the highest possible GPA personally attainable, and preparing for the release of my second album, “Something About Her,” to be released in April! It’s a lot to juggle, but I know I am the luckiest girl to be doing what I love, and to have people supporting me through this craziness (that’s you guys) 🙂
This Saturday, my family is flying out from California to come visit me, and I can’t wait to see them. I studied abroad in France for a year during my junior year of high school, so I am used to (“used to”) not seeing my family for long periods of time, but I will always remember the feeling I had on July 6th (yes I remember the exact day) when I got to see them for the first time after 10 months. It’s hard to go so long without seeing your loved ones, but it only makes you appreciate home that much more. I will be back in California over summer, working hard on promoting Something About Her, and of course working on new music, and hopefully doing mini tours! Excited to continue all this – it feels like a dream.
Pre-ordering for my album has started, and the links are below. I am more excited than ever to share what has been “in the works” over the past year and a half of my life.
